my personal irs odyssey - part one
it's ongoing, but far enough along for you to get the sense that something just isn't right
once you see the scam in action, things start to get a whole lot clearer. first up, is my forms 1040 and attachments, so you can see what i filed. this one is for 2019, but 2019-2022 are all roughly the same:
what i haven’t included above is my husband’s form 1099-r (he is retired military, so definitely has “income”) or the forms 4852 for my kids. but you get the idea. note i did not submit any of the erroneous w-2 forms we received.
for clarity, my 2019 filing included (1) form 1040, (1) form 1099-r, and (3) forms 4852. signed, sworn, and with no other comments or attachments. i filed these paper forms through the mail. i filed something similar for 2020-2022.
notice that the payer shown on form 4852 made an allegation that i had “wages” and per irs instructions, i have disputed that allegation and reported that i earned $0 “wages.”
the first correspondence from the irs is the 12c letter:
they want you to send in and incorporate into your filing the erroneous allegation of “wages” on the w-2.
i didn’t want to confuse these poor bureaucrats, so here was my reply instead:
pretty simple. but, while that should have cleared everything up, instead my filing ends up at the frivolous returns department. this is what t. paine was going on about in his posts. let’s see how very scary they are.
letter 3176c:
well, there it is. are you frightened yet?
yes, i’m going to leave you hanging, thinking that soon they’ll come for me and take everything i have and lock me in a cage. we’ll pick this up from there in part two.
That $5,000 is accruing 7% interest. The IRS and department of education don’t need a court order to take money from your bank account or to place a lien on your property. That’s not a threat. A threat is when they say they are going to do something but don’t. I’m sorry you fell for a scam, and am afraid that reality is going to bite you in the ass real soon. Do keep us posted on the outcome.
